Richard Sweet, CFP®, is President and Founder of The Wealth Advisor Group, based in New York City. With over 30 years of experience in the areas of financial planning, investments and insurance, he understands that this business is a partnership built on professionalism, trust and integrity.

Richard has always had a passion for helping people and wanting to make a difference in their lives.  As an independent financial professional, his clients include people from all walks of life: Individuals, Families, Business Owners, Entertainers, Actors and World-class Athletes. Richard works with them on a one-on-one basis to develop a customized strategic, long-term financial plans which help enable them to achieve their goals and objectives. By removing the mystery from complex issues, his clients can easily and fully understand all their options.

Richard graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a degree in Marketing and holds a professional degree from Adelphi University in Financial Planning. He began his career as a stockbroker with Paine Webber. After becoming a Certified Financial Planner™ professional or CFP®, he joined Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company as a career agent and the Investment Coordinator for the largest agency in New York City. In year 2000, he partnered with an independent firm where he remained until starting The Wealth Advisor Group, in 2008. Richard currently works for Equitable Advisors,LLC in New York City.

Richard holds a FINRA, Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent), Series 66, as well as, Health, Accident & Life Insurance licenses. He also received a Life Underwriting Training Counsel Fellowship (LUTCF) designation. and in 2014 completed the Wharton School At Retirement program. He is a member of many professional organizations including Life Underwriters Association and CFP Board of Standards & Practices.

Certifed Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certifcation marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™ and CFP® in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certifcation requirements.
